Tourist information

Yuki spreads vertically along the slope of the mountain.

There are many spots scattered throughout the area, You will want to visit as many times as you want, including seasonal nature appreciation, dining spots, cafes, hot spring facilities, and the famous Kakashi (scarecrow).

It is overflowing with content. Please enjoy the charm of Yuki, living with rich resources.

Must see and do:

Fireflies (Mid-June to Mid-July)

Yuki Town is one of the few places where you can spot three different types of fireflies; Genji firefly, Heike firefly and Hime (princess) firefly.

The annual Yuki Hot Spring and Firefly Festival which takes place at the end of June attracts many visitors every year.

Waterfalls

There are more than 10 waterfalls big and small in Yuki Town. They are all unique in their own ways so we would love you to see all of them. You will usually finish at a waterfall after each shower climbing course.

Scarecrows in a woodland community

Around 170 scarecrows (almost double the number of the population!) greet you when you visit Kamitada neighborhood, which attracts tourists from outside Hiroshima Prefecture who have seen them on TV and other media. They get changed periodically so there is always something new to see. Perfect for a fun challenge to test your courage in the middle of the night walking through them!

Kumode Community Park

The project was initiated by two locals trying to revitalize the area.

It’s a great place for BBQ and fishing. There is also a grass-covered open space and a playground for small children. With 120 newly planted cherry trees, it might become a place to view cherry blossoms in a few years!

Takeshita Weeping Cherry Tree

80 year-old magnificent weeping cherry tree. Around the beginning of April, it’s lit up during the night, which attracts many people from inside and outside the Prefecture. We also recommend the winter season to view the tree. The snow-covered cherry tree is beautiful and magical.

A giant Japanese cedar “Shihon Sugi”

This old tree, estimated to be 400 years old, is designated as one of the 100 giant trees in Japan and one of the most valuable assets of the town. The trunk splits into 4 parts, which earned its name “Shihon Sugi .” How it grows to the sky is totally magnificent.

Vegetable Market “Kinsai Yunoyama”

This shop sells bento lunch boxes as well as fresh local produce. If you are lucky, you might be able to purchase fragrant local Matsutake mushrooms. It’s a perfect place to stop by on the way to Yunoyama Hotspring.。

Homemade savory food items are well sought out here. In addition, you can buy vegetables grown in the family gardens of the staff members.

Shop on the pass “Toge-no-Mori”

Attached to the food-processing factory, you can buy freshly made konnyaku and different types of sweet Japanese rice cakes such as ohagi or kashiwa-mochi depending on the season.

Managed by the konnyaku factory, many different types of konnyaku dishes are offered at an affordable price. The chef’s recommendation is the one called “Konnyaku Sanzoku Yaki.”

Coffee House Sakusaku

Enjoy coffee and homemade cake in the relaxing atmosphere of a log house. The wood stove warms up the inside during the winter.

Hotaru “Firefly” Tea House

It’s right at the entrance of the Yunoyama Hot Spring neighborhood. Try your hand at making soba buckwheat noodles.
