Yuki spreads vertically along the slope of the mountain.

There are many spots scattered throughout the area, You will want to visit as many times as you want, including seasonal nature appreciation, dining spots, cafes, hot spring facilities, and the famous Kakashi (scarecrow).

It is overflowing with content. Please enjoy the charm of Yuki, living with rich resources.

Must see and do:

Fireflies (Mid-June to Mid-July)

Yuki Town is one of the few places where you can spot three different types of fireflies; Genji firefly, Heike firefly and Hime (princess) firefly.

The annual Yuki Hot Spring and Firefly Festival which takes place at the end of June attracts many visitors every year.

Waterfalls

There are more than 10 waterfalls big and small in Yuki Town. They are all unique in their own ways so we would love you to see all of them. You will usually finish at a waterfall after each shower climbing course.

Kagura (“God-entertainment”-Shinto ritual ceremonial dance)

We have three Kagura groups within the town. Every 2nd and 4th Sunday, there is a performance by a Kagura group from Hiroshima City. In addition, during the Fall Festival season in mid- October, we have performances taking place in different districts of the town.

Scarecrows in a woodland community

Around 170 scarecrows (almost double the number of the population!) greet you when you visit Kamitada neighborhood, which attracts tourists from outside Hiroshima Prefecture who have seen them on TV and other media. They get changed periodically so there is always something new to see. Perfect for a fun challenge to test your courage in the middle of the night walking through them!

Fishing

In Minochi River known for its clear water, you can fish freshwater trout, sweetfish and eel. Our sweetfish has won 2nd place in a national competition on four occasions in the past, so its quality is guaranteed and known nationwide. Please buy a ticket before you fish.

Yuki Fishing Pond

You can fish different types of freshwater fish such as Yamame, sweetfish and rainbow trout. You can also cook and eat them on the spot. It gets busy on the weekends but great to come as a family.

Sagotani Farm

Though the town is mostly in a narrow valley, the farm is situated in a rare open space. You can try milking and make butter. The café FALO on site offers homemade gelato and ice cream.

Nekoya Shop/Café

An antique shop that sells an array of day-to-day items. I am sure there is something that catch your eye. Enjoy watching the passers-by in Yuki town center with a cup of coffee in the café space.

Yuki Town Tourist Information & Activity Center (Yuki Experience Centre)

Yuki town’s tourist center where you can participate in a variety of hands-on activities such as making konnyaku, buckwheat noodles and other handicraft activities. It also has a camping ground with a space for BBQ. Shower climbing and trekking also start here as well. Finally, match-making parties organized here in the past succeeded in 13 couples getting married.

Kumode Community Park

The project was initiated by two locals trying to revitalize the area.

It’s a great place for BBQ and fishing. There is also a grass-covered open space and a playground for small children. With 120 newly planted cherry trees, it might become a place to view cherry blossoms in a few years!

Hiroshima Sturgeon Farm

A rare opportunity to visit a sturgeon farm. Their large size and unfitting cute look are sure to amuse you. Feel free to get in touch to book tours.

Takeshita Weeping Cherry Tree

80 year-old magnificent weeping cherry tree. Around the beginning of April, it’s lit up during the night, which attracts many people from inside and outside the Prefecture. We also recommend the winter season to view the tree. The snow-covered cherry tree is beautiful and magical.

A giant Japanese cedar “Shihon Sugi”

This old tree, estimated to be 400 years old, is designated as one of the 100 giant trees in Japan and one of the most valuable assets of the town. The trunk splits into 4 parts, which earned its name “Shihon Sugi　.” How it grows to the sky is totally magnificent.

Yuki Farmer’s Market “Tokusan’hin Ichiba-kan”

You can find fresh vegetables and seasonal handmade food items here. They also have a hard-to-find konnyaku in the shape of a salamander. If you are looking for something local to take home, this is the place!

Vegetable Market “Kinsai Yunoyama”

This shop sells bento lunch boxes as well as fresh local produce. If you are lucky, you might be able to purchase fragrant local Matsutake mushrooms. It’s a perfect place to stop by on the way to Yunoyama Hotspring.。

Shop on the pass “Toge-no-Mori”

Soraguchi “Mama’s Milk” Workshop

After trying out milk from all over Japan, the owner fell in love with the local milk called “Sunadani Milk.”

The milk jam made from it won the title “The Hiroshima Brand”. ”Handora” creamy pancakes are also very popular. A cafe space available.

Kokumin Shukusha Yuki Lodge

Re-opened in 2009 after renovation. With many activities taking place here, it’s regarded as an effective center of the town. The stay here with the hot spring and local dishes is reasonably priced. You can also visit here for the day having a bath, eating out at the restaurant and shopping. The Kagura performances take place twice a month.

Kajika-so Ryokan

The only ryokan remaining in the Yuki Hot Spring town center. The open-air baths overlooking the river are the perfect place to relax listening to the murmur of the running water. Yuki Hot Spring Private Rental Open-Air Bath “Masa-no-hinokiyu”

This is an open-air bath that has been unavailable for nearly 20 years.

As a group of celebrities including the local Ariyoshi Hiroyuki helped to make a new bathtub from local hinoki (cypress) trees, the facility is drawing great attention at the moment. You and your family can enjoy water flowing directly from the hot spring source.

Kokumin Shukusha Yuki Lodge (Day use)

Here you can enjoy the water flowing directly from the source. From the open-air bath, you can see the Suinai River flowing and the night sky dotted with stars. Come and get refreshed without a stayover.

Yunoyama Hot Spring Centre

It’s famous for its outside “Utaseyu” bath, getting splashed directly with the source water falling naturally from 4m above.

We recommend you alternate using this bath with the ones inside. The area flourished as the local feudal lord used to stay here during the Edo period. The bath used at that time still remains and is designated as an Important Tangible National Folk Cultural Property (the only hot spring bath to hold this honor).
